Siphateles alvordensis can be distinguished by the following characters: lateral line with 58-72 scales; dorsal fin usually with 7 rays; anal fin with 7 rays; pectoral fin with 14-15 rays; pharyngeal teeth 0,5-4,0; slender, fairly compressed body; deep caudal peduncle; high nape rising steeply from short pointed head; small eye high on head; rounded snout; terminal mouth; dusky olive to dark green above, line of black specks along upper side; silver side; clear to dusky olive fins (Ref. 86798). |
Inhabits springs and spring-fed streams, and impoundments (Ref. 5723, 86798). |
