Inhabits small forest streams with clear water with boulders, cobbles and coarse gravel grading to fine sand bottoms (Ref. 26091). Most of the fish occurring syntopically with S. citatus are specialized for living in fast-flowing waters (genera Gastromyzon, Hypergastromyzon, Homaloptera, Schismatorhynchos, Glyptothorax) (Ref. 32835). |
