Vertebrae: 33-33. Two elongated or roundish central lobes on the second simple anal-fin ray in specimens larger than 25 mm SL and lepidotrichia of branched pelvic-fin rays 8-16 dorsoposteriorly hypertrophied into large projecting processes in males. No dark stripes on body; no concentric bands on paired fins. Pectoral-fin origin in front of corner of mouth. Pelvic fin reaching 50-80% of distance between anus and anal-fin origin. No cavity around the mouth, no skin-fold between oropectoral membrane and ventral surface of head (Ref. 40433).

Inhabits a river with a succession of riffles over coarse gravel and larger single stones and deep pools over sandy bottom. Rheophilous, caught in only in riffles or rapids with current velocity from 0.6 to more than 1 m/sec. Found with Garra cambodgiensis, Schistura sp. and Homaloptera yunnanensis. Feeds on aquatic invertebrates (Ref. 40433). |
