Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Leuciscinae
Max. size:  8.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Hot spring Petzea (or Baile Epiropesti) close to Oradea, about 10,000 square meters in western Romania.
Diagnosis:  Can be diagnosed from Scardinius erythrophthalmus by having the following combination of characters: compact body and head, head width 15-17% SL (vs. 13-14), head length 28-31% SL (vs. 24-8) and caudal peduncle depth 1.3-1.7 times in its length (vs. 1.5-2.0) (Ref. 59043).
Biology:  Inhabits densely vegetated, shallow hot spring with mud bottom (Ref. 59043).
