Distinguished from all its congeners in Balkan Peninsula by the combination of the following characters: preanal length 73-80% SL; predorsal length 44-50% SL; 18-21 total gill rakers; interorbital distance 24-31% HL. This species is probably an artificial assemblage of several species. Several populations differ morphologically (Ref. 59043). |
| Inhabits stretches with swift, clear, cold water, rapids and small waterfalls. Size reaches up to at least 30 cm SL (Ref. 59043). |
