Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal soft rays: 9-10. This species is distinguished by the following characters: body slender, its depth 12.7-16.1 (mean 14.4) % SL; adhesive disc is circular, its length 15.0-18.7 (16.8) and with 12.9-15.9 (14.4) % SL, ratio of length to width 1.03-1.25; anus posteriorly positioned, pre-anus length and disc to anus length 66.7-72.0 (68.9) and 25.7-31.6 (28.9) % SL, respectively; snout tip directed upward, usually horizontally level with lower margin of eye lens (lateral view); abdomen with a yellow stripe on either side of ventral midline; dorsal and lateral surfaces of body with yellow dots (sometimes indistinct and lateral dots absent), forming c. three to five longitudinal rows and a single broken line, respectively (Ref. 129525). |
This species is usually commensal with crinoids, rarely associated with rocky substrate near sea urchins (Ref. 130914). |
