Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs at Langenburg and Monkey Bay.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in the open water but is usually caught in deep levels. Piscivorous, Readily caught using Usipa (Engraulicypris sardella) as bait (Ref. 5595).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
