Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: known only from the type locality, Viana Lake, PindarĂ©-Mearim river system in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0. Anal fin uniform light brown, not hyaline, without dark bars or lines or any other kinds of marks on it. Membranous, wide swim-bladder, with visceral organs overlapping it laterally in part or completely. No caudal fin (Ref. 35403).
