Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 30 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: eastern Africa to Sri Lanka and the Maldives; also recorded at Cocos-Keeling and Christmas Island.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Description: Body greyish brown, cheeks and ventral side with yellow tinge or horizontal streaks; caudal fin yellow. Body depth 1.7-1.8 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults inhabit seaward reefs, particularly coral-rich outer reef crests (Ref. 9710). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
