Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 5 - 8 m
Distribution:  Africa: Likoma Island (Membe Point), Lake Malawi, Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Observed over rock-sand interface as well as purely rocky habitats. Feeds on attached algae, in the sand substrata, and on plankton (Ref. 26078).

Threat to humans:  harmless
