Family:  Pseudochromidae (Dottybacks), subfamily: Pseudochrominae
Max. size:  8.15 cm SL (male/unsexed); 6 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 20 - 66 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Indonesia. Known only from north-eastern Indonesia, from North Sulawesi to Papua and extending southwards at least to Ambon (Ref. 87199).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 25-27; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 13-14. A species of Pseudochromis with the following combination of characters: palatine tooth patches inserted medially behind vomerine tooth patch; large dark grey to black spot on posterodorsal corner of operculum; pale blue curved bar behind eye; and anal fin without broad dark distal stripe (Ref. 87199). Description: Characterized by male with pinkish-orange head and anterior body, dark brown posterior body, narrow white bar behind eye, upper operculum with dark-brown spot; female dark brown color, presence of narrow white bar behind eye, gill cover with faint whitish patch, upper and lower margins of caudal fin brown; anterior lateral line scales 33-36; predorsal scales 17-21; depth of body 29-33 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Solitary or in pairs around low coral outcrops (Ref 90102). Maximum depth from Ref. 087199.
