Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Myctophinae
Max. size:  3.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 100 - 500 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: off Tôhoku in Japan. Northeast Pacific: south of southern California to Washington (Ref. 265). Also widespread in the transition region between the subarctic and central water masses of the North Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 19-24; Vertebrae: 36-38. Branchiostegal rays: 8-9 (Ref. 31442).
Biology:  Epipelagic to mesopelagic (Ref. 31442). Oviparous, with planktonic eggs and larvae (Ref. 31442).
