Family:  Anthiadidae (Fairy basslets or Streamer basses)
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 15 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 65 - 230 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Florida, USA and Bermuda through the Greater Antilles to Rio Grande, Brazil (Ref. 47377).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-8; Vertebrae: 26-26
Biology:  Adults are commonly found on outer continental shelf reefs. They primarily feed on zooplankton while common in the diet of larger predators like snappers and groupers (Ref. 96848).
