Distribution:  Asia: Chaliyar in Kerala, India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Pristolepis procerus is distinguished from other species of the genus Pristolepis in having a blackish brown and higher body, dusky fins, longer head, larger orbits, more posteriorly located anal fin, dorsal fin with 13 soft rays, and elongated pectoral, pelvic and caudal fin (Ref. 116753).
