Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: East Indian Ridge.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 27-27. This species is distinguished by the following characters: with spinulated (without break) posterior and lower edges of praeoperculum; insertion of ventral fins posterior to the vertical of the posterior edge of pectoral fin insertion; upper jaw extends beyond the vertical of the posterior edge of the eye; dorsal fin with 12 soft rays, anal fin with 8; rakers on the first gill arch 31; vertebrae 27; pyloric caeca 7 (Ref. 83718).
