Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 4 - 20 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Indonesia and Malaysia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 14-16. Description: Overall pale bluish grey, operculum and cheeks vermiculation blue. Juvenile dorsal fin posterior ocellus black with blue edge, caudal peduncle saddle ocellated. Body depth 2.0-2.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Probably widespread in silty coastal regions (Ref. 48636). Observed to occur solitarily or in small groups that remain close to shelter (Ref. 11891). Diurnal species (Ref. 52881). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
