Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Pomacentrinae
Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 8 - 20 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: known only so far from the type locality Bodgaya Islands, Malaysia, but probably occurs also in peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-16; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 14-16. Description: Adults overall purplish brown, caudal peduncle pale (Ref. 90102), and have a yellow and black band along pectoral fin base. Juveniles are light pinkish brown (Ref. 48636). Adult and juvenile soft dorsal fin with ocellus. Body depth 1.9-2.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults inhabit silty reefs, with scattered algae, soft and hard corals. Solitary or in groups of up to 5 individuals and remain close to shelter (Ref. 11891). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
