Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range - 0 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Baja California, Mexico and the southern Baja California to Ecuador.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 15-18; Vertebrae: 62-65
Biology:  Found mainly at the surface of offshore waters, but also in coastal waters (Ref. 9279). Abundant around islands (Ref. 9279). Feeds mainly on small fishes (Ref. 9279). Oviparous (Ref. 205). Eggs may be found attached to objects in the water by tendrils on the egg's surface (Ref. 205). Usually caught with the help of artificial lights (Ref. 9279).
