Max. size:  10.91 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Yuanjiang River basin in Yunnan, China. This species has been misidentified as Placocheilus caudofasciatus.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Distinguished from its congeners by having a stout caudal peduncle (depth 72.4-82.5% of its length); and the medium sized scaleless midventral region extended slightly beyond halfway from pectoral - to pelvic-fin origin. Further differs in having coarsely crenulated rostral fold with 18-23 indentations on distal margin and small mental adhesive disc (length 66.7-71.4% of its width) (Ref. 49783).
