Diagnosis: |
Phenacobius uranops resembles the riffle minnow, P. catostomus, but can be distinguished by having more elongated body, longer snout, more elliptical eye, 52-61 scales on lateral line, and 13-16 scales around caudal peduncle (Ref. 86798). |
Biology: |
Inhabits gravel and rubble runs and riffles of clear, fast creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294). Feeds on dipteran and caddis larvae (Ref. 10294). |
