Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 9-11; Vertebrae: 31-32. Distinguished from its congeners by the possession of nine dorsal-fin rays (vs. eight, very rarely nine in Phalloceros mikrommatos, Phalloceros caudimaculatus, Phalloceros elachistos, Phalloceros titthos, Phalloceros harpagos, Phalloceros spiloura, and Phalloceros reisi) (Ref. 76852).
