Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Chinyankwazi and Chinyamwezi islands in the southeast arm of Lake Malawi, Malawi.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 16-19; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 6-8
Biology:  Scrapes algae from the rock over which it lives. Found foraging in the water column presumably on both phytoplankton and zooplankton.
