Max. size:  1.81 cm SL (male/unsexed); 1.92 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 16 m
Distribution:  WesternPacific: Ryukyu Is. (Japan) and Palau.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinguished by the following characters: P-V 3/II II I I 0/9; origin of first dorsal fin posterior to the upper base of pectoral fins, origin of pelvic fins directly below the lower base of pectoral fins; colour of head and body light reddish yellow, median fins black and paired fins translucent (Ref. 93879).
Biology:  Inhabits coral reefs of bays at the reef edge, or on the reef slope at depths of 2-16 m. Individuals live commensally on the branches of species of coral genus Pocillopora, mostly with Pocillopora eydouxi (Ref. 93879).
