Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Bathymyrinae
Max. size:  72 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 25 - 50 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Senegal to Angola.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on sandy bottom (Ref. 26999). Burrows into the substratum tail-first, with only the head exposed (Ref. 3597).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 February 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
