Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-5; Anal soft rays: 5-5. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: presence of a prominent dorsal fin; eye diameter 7.4-8.8% HL; pectoral fins 4 and anal fins 5; slender body, lack of pigmentation, lack of scales and diminutive eyes (Ref. 137997).
