Family:  Ophidiidae (Cusk-eels), subfamily: Ophidiinae
Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 15 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: southern Florida (USA) and the Bahamas to Yucatan, Mexico and the Lesser Antilles.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Rare species benthic from the shore to 15 m depth (Ref. 34024). Usually on coral sand near reefs (Ref. 7251). Oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
