Distribution: | Western Indian Ocean: Lake St. Lucia in South Africa northwards, probably up to the Red Sea. Reported as likely at Seychelles (Ref. 1623) but Randall and van Egmond 1994 (Ref. 10685) believe otherwise. | |||
Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Dark vertical bars below lateral line; 1st dorsal, anterior of 2nd dorsal, anal and caudal lobes dark, pelvic fins black (Ref. 4329). | |||
