Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal soft rays: 6-7; Vertebrae: 37-40. Lower lip with a median notch and having a posterior margin with small laciniate projections. Caudal fin emarginate. Male genital papilla immediately behind the anus in a depression terminating posteriorly with a straight transverse wall. Maxillary barbel with pointed tip and lobulate posterior margin (Ref. 44353). |
Occurs in montane brooks and small high-gradient streams (Ref. 12693). Inhabits cold swift mountain streams. Attaches itself to rock surfaces facing the current (Ref. 2073). Feeds on crustaceans and insect larvae (Ref. 58784). Not seen in markets (Ref. 12693). |
