Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal soft rays: 4-4. Characterized by having escal morphology: anterior appendage with lateral filament on each side; pair of unbranched medial appendages; terminal papilla with pair of pigment spots; slender posterior appendage with expanded distal tip; single unbranched anterolateral appendage on each side; absence of lateral appendages; all appendages less than length of escal bulb; long and narrow subopercle, dorsal end tapering to a point, without indentation on posterodorsal margin; length of ventral fork of opercle 24.8% SL; ratio of lengths of the dorsal and ventral forks of opercle 0.48; absence of epibranchial teeth; presence of teeth on pharyngobranchial II; upper jaw teeth 20-56, lower jaw teeth 32-55; teeth on vomer 4-8; dorsal fin rays 6; anal fin rays 4; pectoral fin rays 14-15; head length 45.3-47.1% SL; head depth 34.8-35.3% SL; premaxilla length 28.1-29.4% SL; length of lower jaw 43.3-47.1% SL; length of illicium 35.3-74.2% SL (Ref. 86949).
