Family:  Ictaluridae (North American freshwater catfishes)
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: Lake Erie and Ohio River basins from western Pennsylvania, southern Michigan and eastern Kentucky to Ohio River in western Kentucky, USA; tributaries of Mississippi River in western Tennessee and northern Mississippi, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit mixed sand and rock riffles and runs with debris in small to large, often swift rivers. They forage at night, feeding largely on aquatic insect larvae (Ref. 55397).

Threat to humans:  harmless
