Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  9.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Brazos River and lower portions of large tributaries in Texas, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sand and gravel runs of medium to large rivers but is less often found in sand or mud bottomed pools (Ref. 5723). Feeds on aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates (71% of diet) detritus, plant material and sand. Batch spawner (Ref. 79012).
