Max. size:	29.9 cm SL (male/unsexed); 26.1 cm SL (female)
Environment:	demersal; marine; depth range 40 - 91 m
Distribution:	Southwest Pacific: South Island, southeast of North Island as far as north of Gisborne of New Zealand, Chatham Islands, Stewart Island, and the Snares Islands; rare in Makara, near Wellington and Napier. Recorded in Three Kings Islands (Ref. 30464, 58932).
Diagnosis:
Biology:	Feeds on mollusks and small crustaceans (Ref. 26203). Recorded at depth of 15 m (Ref. 58932).
IUCN Red List Status:	Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 12 June 2008 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:	harmless
