| Biology: | It is typical of rapidly flowing waters, in cascades and creeks with sandy-rocky bottoms, where it is very abundant. Can also be found in calm waters. It can escape its predators by effecting dramatic leaps out of the water. It is a gregarious species which swims constantly near the surface of the water, on the look out for its food in the company of Bryconops melanurus (Ref. 12225). | |||
