Max. size:  4.41 cm SL (male/unsexed); 3.68 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 0 - 1 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  South America: Peru.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal soft rays: 17-17. The males of this species are distinguished from its congeners by having an elliptical caudal fin with brown oblique stripes, and a broad yellow stripe on the ventral portion that lacks a black marginal stripe; further differs with flank light blue with oblique red dots, with dots on pectoral fin, no black humeral blotch and distal black stripe on anal fin (Ref. 130458).
Biology:  All specimens were collected from a single small, shallow (about 5-8 cm deep) temporary pool, with leaf and mud substratum, and it is adjacent to and subject to seasonal inundation by a small stream. The water was dark brown with temperature approximately 24°C and with a pH of 6.8. Other fishes present were Apistogramma rubrolineata and Hoplosternum thoracatum (Ref. 130458).
