Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Nerophinae
Max. size:  11.07 cm SL (male/unsexed); 8.37 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Oceania: West New Britain Island, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Is.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 34-38. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: pectoral fin rays 16-19; dorsal fin rays 36-38; tail rings 28-30 ; subdorsal tail rings 7.5-9.5 (Ref. 132364).
Biology:  Found and caught in rivers where specimens occur on rocky substrate with pebbles. The water was clear and well-oxygenated, the river banks were covered with vegetation and the water was shaded and kept fresh by the the presence of trees (Ref. 132364).
