Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  66 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 846 - 1300 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: eastern Indian Ocean, Madagascar Plateau, southern Australia, and New Zealand. Southeast Atlantic: off the south coast of South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2. Swarthy to dark bluish in color, greyish brown on tail (Ref. 2800).
Biology:  Found on the continental slope. Mesopelagic and benthic species (Ref. 75154).
