Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 3 years
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Ozark-draining tributaries of Missouri (west to Sac River), Mississippi (including Meramec River), Little, St. Francis and Black rivers in southern Missouri and northeastern Arkansas, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky runs, riffles and deep, flowing pools of clear, fast creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 86798). Oviparous (Ref. 205), probably nest spawners like congeners.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 March 2012 Ref. (130435)
