Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: James, Roanoke, Chowan, New, and extreme upper Cape Fear River drainages in Virginia and North Carolina, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky and sandy pools and runs of headwaters, creeks and small rivers (Ref. 86798). Oviparous (Ref. 205), probably nest spawners like congeners. Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
