Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  1.63 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 36 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan (Ryukyu Is.), Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Anterior nostrils absent; no scales detected; pelvic disc with a frenum; body depth 3.35-3.6 cm SL; head length 2.75-2.8 in SL; head compressed, its width 1.2-1.3 in its depth; caudal fin rounded, shorter than head, 2.9-3.4 in SL; orange in color, the upper part of the head and body abruptly white; fins orange-yellow (Ref. 45340).
Biology:  Inhabits sand and rubble bottoms, taking refuge in dead shells, empty bottles and tunicates (Ref. 90102). Hovers a short distance above the substrate (Ref. 45340). Feeds on zooplankton (Ref. 45340).
