Environment:  demersal; freshwater; depth range 18 - 32 m
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to the central and southern Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurrence of this species might be dependent on the availability of a special type of diatom (Ref. 5595). Feeds mainly on benthic diatoms (Ref. 267).
