| Diagnosis: | This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: plain brown body or no other colour formation; 4 + 39-40 vertebrae; pectoral fins (length less than 11.5% of LS); dorsal fin inserted opposite to or slightly posterior to the pelvic-fin insertion; posteriorly-moved anus (vent to anal distance 43.6%-52.2% of the pelvic to anal distance); white dorsal fin with a black subdistal band; deeply forked caudal fin (the longest ray 1.6-1.9) with two broadly pointed lobes and yellowish white with a roughly W-shaped black blotch (Ref. 137757). | |||
