Distribution:  Northwest Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 60-68; Anal soft rays: 52-59; Vertebrae: 38-42. Slightly broad body with small, deciduous scales. Anal fin with depression at its middle length. Posterior end of dorsal and anal fins with a black triangle; caudal fin end with a black vertical band.
