Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Torinae
Max. size:  40 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Sibwe, Mubuku, Tokwe and Kirimia Rivers (Ref. 83445) in the Ruwenzori area in Uganda, in the Upper and Middle Akagera system in Rwanda (Ref. 27626, 46152), and in the Malagarazi and Rusizi Rivers in Burundi (Ref. 83445).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6; Anal spines: 6-6; Anal soft rays: 9-11. Back and lower lobe of caudal fin dark (Ref. 4967).
Biology:  Found in fast-flowing rivers in the Ruwenzori area (Ref. 83445), with upper limit of 5500 feet (Ref. 4903). Inhabits the headwaters of rivers at high altitudes (Ref. 4967).
