Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lower Guinea endemic, only known from the Sanaga River system in Cameroon (Ref. 81639).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Diagnosis: mouth opening strongly curved and crescentic; no barbels; last unbranched dorsal ray weakly ossified and flexible; pelvic fin inserts below middle of dorsal fin (Ref. 81639). Description: body depth 24.2-37.5% SL, head length 23.0-28.0% SL; no papillae around curved mouth opening but often with conical keratinized tubercles on snout; D: IV,11-12; A: III,5-6; scale formula: 5.5/27-28/-; 2.5; 12; 3.5 scales from lateral line to anal fin origin (Ref. 81639). Coloration: alcohol-preserved specimens are uniformly light brown (Ref. 81639).
Biology:  Maximum TL recorded: 21.3 cm (Ref. 2801).
