Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Lower jaw falls inside upper jaw by at least the thickness of the lower lip; lower and upper lip well developed; head length less than 3.5 times in standard length; body depth at least 1.2 times in head length; no clear nuchal hump; eye diameter at least 2 times in snout length. |
Biology: |
The species has a preference for rocky substrates, but also lives over sandy and muddy parts, especially in the shore area; absent from water deeper than 6 m; mainly a piscivore, but also eats small amounts of insects (Ref. 35835). |
