Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-18; Anal soft rays: 8-8; Vertebrae: 35-35. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: adult size <200 mm SL; dark brown to black body colour; dorsal fin with a straight distal margin and no elongated rays; two pairs of barbels; rostral barbel length less than eye diameter (Ref. 137933).
