Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 161 - 850 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: Namibia and off Cape Point, South Africa. Also southwest Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2. Brownish in color.
Biology:  A benthic species found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154). Minimum depth reported from Ref. 27121.

Threat to humans:  harmless
