Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 27-31; Vertebrae: 36-37. Distinguished from all species of the genus and from all remaining characids by having a unique color pattern consisting of the combination of presence of a conspicuous, narrow dark midlateral stripe, a single elongated humeral spot, and upper caudal-fin lobe and middle
caudal-fin rays dark, with a clear, rounded ocellated spot present dorsally at anterior third of caudal-fin lobe (Ref. 81201).

Biology: |
Collected from a black-water, terra-firme forest stream about 4-5 m wide and 0.5-1.0 m deep, with a predominantly sandy bottom. Also found in a large oxbow lake (Ref. 81201). |
