Max. size:  22 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan, China, Taiwan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 28-31; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 25-25. Swim bladder hammer-shaped with a series of arborescent appendages along its sides. Lower jaw with a row of enlarged teeth. Jaws short. Last pleural rib on the 11th vertebra.
Biology:  Found in muddy and sandy-muddy bottoms (Ref. 43239).
