Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 4-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-17; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 21-28. Translucent with silver lower head and band along side to silver spot on caudal peduncle and viscera enclosed in silver.
Description: Characterized further by having longitudinal scale series 40-60; depth of body 3.3-3.4 in SL; head 4.2-5.5 in SL; eye 2.5-3.6 in head length (Ref. 90102). |

Found in large numbers in boiling surf, close to shoreline. Occurs in large aggregations (Ref. 90102). |
